We also promote and participate in discussion with any of the other councils, associations or bodies that govern other areas of the Amateur Brass Band Movement throughout the United Kingdom.

The Council is comprised of representatives from the Cornwall, Gloucestershire, South West and Wessex Brass Band Associations, who work together to progress the aims of the organisation.

The Council is constantly seeking to maintain and improve the standards of the Regional Finals and may, as necessary, formulate any bye rules for the governing of any form of Contest held under its auspices.

WOW - West is Best, the figures prove it!

Many congratulations to all the West of England Bands who took part in the National Championships at Cheltenham. Of the nine bands representing the Region no less than six were in the frame of their sections with two Firsts, two Seconds, a Fifth and a Sixth.

Congratulations to Aldbourne and Bournemouth, who were 1st and 2nd respectively in the First Section. Likewise to Brunel Brass who won the Second Section and Pendennis Brass Falmouth who came 5th in their first final in that section.

Sidmouth Town reached the podium in 6th place in the Third Section and New Forest Brass were 2nd in the Fourth Section.

Well done to the other West of England Bands who took part – Downton Silver, Hatherleigh Silver and Bratton Silver – don’t forget you were taking part in the National Finals which puts you in the top twenty bands in your Section in the country.

The bench mark has been set for the Championship bands going to London! Good luck to both Flowers and Woodfalls on the 15th October. No pressure, then!
